NAAHP Launches Scholarship Program to Support Haitian Students

February 09, 2015

HILLSIDE, NJ – Today, the National Alliance for the Advancement of Haitian Professionals (NAAHP) announced the launch of its Haitian Leadership Award Scholarship program to assist Haitian and Haitian-American students in the pursuit of higher education.

In order to thrive in today’s tough economic climate and job market, applicants must distinguish themselves through the caliber of their education, work experience, and other qualifications. With the rising costs of tuition and books, students from the Diaspora are struggling to meet the financial burden of a college education. Recognizing the overwhelming need for financial assistance in communities across the U.S., the National Association of Haitian Professionals will invest in student development to ensure his or her continued growth and inclusion in our nation’s prominent industries.

“Today, a college degree is more important than ever in order to remain competitive. The NAAHP Haitian Leadership Award Scholarship will provide financial support and mentoring to prepare individuals to become college graduates and our next generation of leaders,” said Dr. Marjorie Brennan, the NAAHP Advisory Board Chair. “Higher learning is an investment with immeasurable returns, and NAAHP is committed to supporting outstanding students who may otherwise not have an opportunity to further their education.”

The annual scholarship will be awarded to student(s) of Haitian descent who is currently attending an accredited two or four-year academic institution with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
