March 01, 2016

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Hillside, NJ, March 1, 2016 The National Alliance for the Advancement of Haitian Professionals (NAAHP), formerly known as NAHP, announces the launch of its 2016 Haitian Leadership Award Scholarship Program to assist Haitian and Haitian-American students. Donors are welcome to work with us to establish a scholarship in their own name, or in the memory of a loved one.

Last year, two dynamic students won scholarships. Raquel Laguerre is a freshman at the University of Pennsylvania, studying Communications, Cinema Studies and English. Amanda Raymond, also a freshman, is enrolled at the University of Florida, pursuing her interests in Health Sciences.

Dr. Marjorie Brennan, Chair of the Scholarship Committee commented, “We were tremendously impressed by the academic and personal achievements of these young people. Their creativity, initiative and commitment reflect the true depth of talent in our community.” She added, “NAAHP is grateful to play a role in advancing their education, which is an essential component of their ongoing success.”

Eligible students must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited two- or four-year institution. They must also have a minimum 3.2 GPA. Winners receive $1,000 towards tuition, books, and other expenses. Interested students are encouraged to submit their application by May 15, 2015 for consideration.
