Burdley Colas was born in Cap Haitien, Haiti. He attended Village D’enfants SOS de Cap Haitien from Kindergarten to 9th Grade where he also received a Vocational Degree in Eléctro-Méchanique at the age of 14 from Centre D’information SOS. He furthered his Secondary Education level at College Practice Du Nord in Cap-Haitien. In 2017, at the age of 16, Burdley moved to the United States to live with Father and siblings. In 2012, he earned his Associates of Arts and Science as an Electrical Engineer from Broward College in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Currently, he is attending the University of Central Florida where he is his pursuing a Bachelor of Science as an Optics and Photonics Scientist and Engineer with a minor in Mathematics. Last but not least, Burdley is a RF Photonics R&D, Engineer at Harris Corporation.
Since his arrival to the United States, Burdley has been highly active in the Haitian Community. He held several positions in school organizations. He has been a mentor to first generation college students for the minority program Brother to Brother at Broward College, he was also a Model United Nations Head Delegate for two years. While at the University of Central Florida, he founded the Society of Optics Students, and served as a Research Mentor to undergraduate students. He finds passion in working to empower others through coaching, networking, leadership, entrepreneurship, and ethics professional. Burdley spends his spare time either writing poems, constructing a piece of abstract art, reading a book, practicing Judo, catching up on one of his favorite shows, bonding with friends, or spending quality time with his son and family members.
Burdley is honored to take on his role and responsibilities as Director of Professional Development to work collaboratively with the members of the National Alliance for the Advancement of Haitian Professionals (NAAHP) to bring forth the utmost and satisfactory outcomes reflecting the vision and mission of NAAHP.
