The professions of Speech Language Pathology and Audiology are allied health professions that many students do not know about. This panel will discuss the professions of Speech Language Pathology and Audiology to include the education requirements, employment settings, and pathways to apply for programs. Additionally, tips will be provided on the application process, what to expect during a program as well as successful completion.

Symposium Goals
This session will focus on increasing the racial and ethnic diversity of the profession of Speech Language Pathology and Audiology. Increasing diversity is a strategic objective of the American Speech Language Association. This is further supported by the Haitian Caucus of the American Speech Language Hearing Association which is dedicated to the provision of quality speech, language, and hearing services to all Haitians with identified and/or suspected communication disorders, communication differences, and/or related disorders. One of the goals of the caucus is to raise awareness about the professions of Speech Language Pathology and Audiology. This panel will engage students and others to pursue a career in Speech Language Pathology.
Objective
This session is designed to inform and recruit Haitian students to pursue careers as Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists. The participants will hear the experiences, and recommendations of current seasoned professionals in academia/research, practicing professionals, and recent graduates.
