Virtual Symposium Goals
The NAAHP COVID-19 Virtual Symposium on Higher Education-3 will focus on increasing the racial and ethnic diversity of the health care workforce. A diverse health care workforce is considered a key strategy in the reduction of health care disparities as well as essential for the adequate provision of culturally competent care. A diverse health care workforce helps to expand health care access for the underserved, fosters research in neglected areas of societal need, and enriches the pool of providers to meet the needs of a diverse populace. This panel will engage current medical and dental students as well as alumni about their pathway into a career in Medicine or Dentistry.
Objective
This Virtual symposium is designed to center the voices, experiences, and recommendations of current medical and dental students as well as alumni as it relates to local, municipal, and regional students seeking to pursue a career in medicine or dentistry, especially among the Haitian Communities.
