Usha E. Pitts

Foreign Service Officer & Diplomat in Residence for New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania

Usha Pitts is a career diplomat with 19 years in the Foreign Service, serving tours in Russia, Cuba, Panama, Italy, and Austria.  Most recently, she served as the U.S. Consul General in Recife, Brazil.

Ms. Pitts is currently posted to New York City, where she works as an educator and State Department recruiter for the Tri-State area and Pennsylvania.  She holds degrees from the University of Massachusetts, the George Washington University, and the Naval War College.

Committed to ensuring our diplomats represent the true face of America, Ms. Pitts recruits a diversity of American citizens to careers with the State Department.  She teaches a course at The City College of New York on “Practical Diplomacy,” and gives presentations, writing workshops, and advice to young people who aspire to an international career.
