Giles C. Charleston is dedicated and passionate about the well-being of Haiti and its people. He is a US-educated professional with background in engineering and computer science. Over 18 years, he has excelled as a seasoned Program/Project Manager and IT consultant in governance, management and technology solution areas in the US and overseas with clients such as USAID, U.S. Department of Defense, the Government of Haiti (GOH) and other private sector entities. Beyond his first career path, he works also on a part-time basis as Adjunct College Professor of Information Systems and Networking Technology.
In 2009 with his keen interest to contribute positively and make a difference in Haiti, Mr. Charleston moved back with his family to work there in the role of Chief Information Officer for a local financial institution. Then the 2010 earthquake struck, he remained in-country and transitioned in a program development and support capacity for the immediate relief and humanitarian response via direct US Government efforts on the grounds. He oversaw technical assistance to facilitate post-disaster stability, enhance GOH governance, readiness, and capacities to deliver public services during this heightened crisis period. In 2012, Giles further led as Senior Project Manager the Haiti Civil Registry and ID Modernization Project (HCRIM), which improved governance and business processes as well as implemented technology refresh and other capacity building enhancements to provide civil registry and citizen identification public services.
These days, Giles has been working more stateside, since his family returned to the US and his older children are now transitioning into their University studies. Nonetheless, he remains engaged on Haiti and always holds close to his heart a call of duty for matters pertinent to shaping its better days. He is a co-founder and Board Member of the Association of Haitian Professionals – AHP, and he has been actively involved with AHP since inception in 2004 to the present.
