Dr. Martine Elie

Martine Elie, Ph.D., CCC/SLP is the Clinic Director at the Howard University Speech and Hearing Clinic with over 15 years’ experience in clinical service provision and academia. As a clinical service provider, Dr. Elie has had extensive experience in preventing, diagnosing and remediating a range of communication disorders. She has presented her research at local, national, and international conferences. At the state level, Dr. Elie served as the District of Columbia Speech Hearing Association (DCSHA) Conference Co-Chair for the 2011 and 2012 Annual Conference, and is currently serving as the treasurer (2014-present). At the national level, she serves on the board of the National Black Association of Speech Language and Hearing. At the international level, she has Co-Chaired the Annual Teacher Summer Training Institute (TSI) in Haiti for the since 2011 providing training for over 750 teachers thus impacting the thousands of students they serve. Dr. Elie also serves as the faculty advisor and coordinator for Howard University Alternative Spring Break Haiti which is an annual service learning opportunity for students across campus under the office of the Howard University Chapel led by Dean Bernard Richardson. As part of her involvement with ASB Haiti Dr. Elie has traveled for the past five years with a delegation of 15-20 students to Haiti annually implementing interdisciplinary activities for the student participants while serving the Haitian community.
