NAAHP Honors Haitian Changemakers and Students at First Annual Gala

HILLSIDE, NJ The National Alliance for the Advancement of Haitian Professionals (NAAHP), in partnership with the Joseph Denis Thomas (JDT) Foundation announced on Thursday that it will culminate its Fourth Annual Conference with an awards gala on November 14, 2015 at the Biscayne Bay campus of Florida International University in Miami, FL in honor of Haitian changemakers who are making a difference in their industries and community at large.

“NAAHP strives to cultivate, illuminate, and demonstrate the many accomplishments of individuals in all sectors that have contributed in elevating and reshaping a brighter Haiti.  The synergy demonstrated by the well-acclaimed individuals to be honored is the essence and anthem of our organization.  The award ceremony aims to foster a culture of appreciation, to educate future generations about the values in celebrating and highlighting the successes of positive icons and influencers reaching great heights through selfless dedication to philanthropic work that will strengthen Haiti and the Diaspora,” said Marie Texas, the Event Chair for this year’s conference.

NAAHP is “ in position to play a key role in encouraging and motivating the success of professionals of Haitian descent. Let us stay true to the inspirational mission statement of our organization: “Elevating Haiti and Its Diaspora.” Let us continue to uplift, invigorate, and inspire our Haitian community through our example.” Stated Chairman Monestine in his welcoming letter.

Mayor Joseph Smith also stated in his welcoming letter, that NAAHP “ is a great opportunity for Haiti and its diaspora to collaborate on efforts for professional advancement approaches and explore social and economic advantages.”

During the inaugural Golden Honors Award Gala, NAAHP will recognize the contributions of men and women who continue to elevate Haiti and its Diaspora. Additionally, two Haitian Leadership Award Scholarships will be presented to Raquel Laguerre and Amanda Raymond who will attend the universities of Pennsylvania and Florida respectively. The remaining honorees will be announced at a later time.

The Golden Honors Award Gala is a gold carpet event that will be attended by dignitaries, influencers, and community leaders who will partake in an unforgettable evening of live entertainment, dinner, dancing, but most importantly honoring the extraordinary efforts of public servants in our community while inspiring attending students to become changemakers themselves.
