Alain Lafalaise

Assistant Finance and Administration Director of Societe du Rhum Barbancourt

Alain Lafalaise is currently the Assistant Finance and Administration Director of Societe du Rhum Barbancourt. He has been instrumental in repositioning the brand locally and internationally. Alain has development multiple sales and production strategies, which help the company regained the position it had prior to the devastating 2010 earthquake. Currently, he is working on pushing the brand’s presence in the US, as well as Latin America, and China.

Born and raised in Haiti, Alain attended St. Louis de Gonzague. He later moved to Miami in 1998, where he finished High School and went on to college. He attended Florida International University where he earned his Bachelor in Business Administration majoring in Finance with a minor in Economics. He also earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Nova Southeastern University with a concentration in Finance.

His professional career stated with an internship at UNITRANSFER USA, where we was a junior Accountant. Upon completion of his internship, he was offered a permanent position as a Financial Analyst. His career continued with UNITRANSFER where he was promoted to Junior Auditor and Treasury Analyst. Upon completion of his MBA, his career took a focus on auditing. In 2005, he got a position as an Associate Auditor with Miami Dade County. Alain worked on various high profile audits that required a great attention to detail, knowledge of governments laws and regulation, as well as an enormous amount of data for analysis. He was later promoted to Senior Auditor working on audits which require great analytical skills, and knowledge to identify potential pitfalls and possible frauds.

Although he had a successful career in the states, he always felt there was nothing better than being back at home in Haiti; thus, he kept in contact with business partners and looked for opportunities to stir his career and relocate in Haiti. His decision was heighten after the January 12th, 2010 earthquake. In March 2011, Alain took his family and relocated in Haiti.

Upon arrival in Haiti, Alain started his career in Haiti where it had left off in Miami; as an auditor. He created the first Internal Audit Department for Haiti Tractor (HAYTRAC), a distributor/dealer of Caterpillar heavy Equipment. Once the department was build and was properly staffed, he was looking for a new challenge. In September 2012, Alain joined Rhum Barbancourt as their Assistant Finance Director. He currently holds the position of Assistant Finance and Administration.
