Cameron Canton

Student Volunteer Coordinator

Fundraising Coordinator, KaT

My name is Cameron Canton. I am a sophomore majoring in Biological Science. I was born in Haiti, but grew up in the great city of Fort Lauderdale, FL. I went to Fort Lauderdale High school and graduated June 2014. From there I went to Florida State University where I am pursuing my dream of becoming a doctor. While at Florida State I have gotten involved with the Haitian Cultural Club (HCC), Minority Association for Pre-Medical Scholars (MAPS), Where’s The Faith (WTF), and various service trips that have really sparked my passion to serve my community. During Spring Break this past year I went on a Mission trip to Haiti and was given an even greater desire to serve my people. This is why I am participating in the Kompa-a-Thon (KaT) movement as Fundraising Coordinator and working with the National Alliance for the Advancement of Haitian Professionals (NAAHP) Conference. I realized that if any change is going to come to the great nation of Haiti it is going to have to come through young leaders such as ourselves. No matter how hard a task, it can be overcome through prayer and hard work from dedicated people. Let us stay true to the emblem of Haiti, L’Union Fait La Force, meaning unity makes strength. So let us remain united for our country and stop this cycle of division before it is too late.
