Larissa Liburd

Social Responsibility Coordinator at White & Case LLP

Larissa Liburd is the Social Responsibility Coordinator at White & Case LLP, a white shoe international law firm headquartered in New York City. As the Social Responsibility Coordinator, Larissa engages with nonprofit, legal, and for-profit leaders and organizations ranging from the UN Foundation to Goldman Sachs on issues and initiatives related to corporate philanthropy, corporate social responsibility, and volunteerism, as well as White & Case’s own green initiatives, pro bono work, charitable contributions practice, and legal education programs. Outside of White & Case, Larissa is a contributing writer for Woy Magazine, an online magazine aimed at Haitians globally and women primarily, and Un’Ruly, an online magazine devoted to the causes and concerns of black women; a volunteer for Crisis Text Line; and a film and book enthusiast (she writes reviews of them over at lakou.tumblr.com). In addition to this position, Larissa also works with the NAAHP as the Director of Collegiate and High School Chapter Services.

Larissa was born in Port au Prince, Haiti, and lived in Miami and New Jersey before settling into New York. She received her Bachelor’s in Political Science with a concentration in Latin American and Caribbean Studies from Yale College. Her senior thesis was on the subject of artificial foreign markets created by influxes of foreign aid, using Haiti after the earthquake as a case study.

She is very excited to begin working with the NAAHP and hopes to see more youth involvement and activism in the organization during her time with the organization.
