Background as an Activist

The relevant information to share about Professor Max Gustave Joseph is that he is a highly educated individual with an extensive career in education. Simultaneous with his pursuit of formal education and the pursuit of a formal career, Professor Max Gustave joseph’s service to the Haitian people started in Haiti in Le Lambi Club promoting independent artistic creations and performances in opposition to Duvalier regime. After immigrating to Canada, he joined together with other activists continued his independent organizing the Diaspora to end the Duvalier dictatorship. There, he helped found the student newspaper “JEUNE CLARTĖ” in 70’s. Professor Max Gustave Joseph moved to Chicago well after the fall of the Duvalier regime and continued his political involvement.   He was one of the founding members of the Haitian Congress to Fortify Haiti which led the fight for Dual Citizenship. During this campaign, he was one of the principle organizer, researcher, writer and spokesperson for the Dual Citizenship campaign which lasted from 2005 to 2012 and beyond. He continues to work and write for the Diaspora Vote effort through the United Front to Exercise the Right to Vote.

Education and Career

Max Gustave Joseph is a retired professor of French and social studies. He previously taught at Herold Washington College of Chicago.     He has a master degree in Education (Literacy) from Saint Vincent University, Nova Scotia, Canada. He has a degree in career Choice Education, Quebec University, Montreal. As well, Professor Joseph has a degree in French as a second language from York University, Canada. He has a Certificate in Teaching Methodology.  He taught French to Elementary and Secondary education throughout the jurisdiction of the Protestant School Board of Greater Montreal, Canada. He served as a School Community Liaison Officer, a French Instructor for evening adult education( Le College du Savoir, Ontario) and School Community Liaison Officer(Centre Haitien d’Organisation Communautaire et de la Culture, Montreal)
