Ms. Soeurette Michel is the CEO and founder of The Michel Law Firm, LLC. Ms. Michel is a skilled and well-respected attorney with broad experience in the areas of business litigation, criminal defense, immigration and naturalization law, and human rights.

Ms. Michel earned an Associate Degree with honor from Valencia Community College. She received her B.S. in Legal Studies, Master Degree in Criminal Justice, and Graduate Certificate in Juvenile Justice Leadership from the University of Central Florida. Ms. Michel graduated with her Juris Doctor from Florida A&M University College of Law where she founded the first Caribbean Law Student Association and served as a Moot Court Member. She graduated Cum Laude with her Masters of Law (LLM) in Intercultural Human Rights from St Thomas University School of Law. She has been involved in assisting and advocating for migrants in the Dominican Republic for the past 20 years and wrote her LLM thesis on “Human Trafficking of Haitians within Haiti and the Dominican Republic: A Human Rights Approach,” in which she outlined the challenges facing Haitians’ victims of human trafficking especially in the Dominican Republic. She also graduated from Pembroke Pines Citizens Police Academy.

Ms. Michel is also a proud graduated of the University of Haiti State where she graduated with a B.A in Social Communication, Public Relations, and Journalism in 1998. Before she immigrated to the US in 2001 Ms. Michel worked as an Administrative Assistant and Consultant for different national and international organizations in Haiti in the field of Immigration, Communication, and Education.

Ms. Michel is involved in local, state bar associations, and her community. She is currently serving on the Board of Directors for Legal Services of Greater Miami. She is also serving as a member of the Florida Bar Consumer Protection Law. Ms. Michel has volunteered countless hours to assist Haitian nationals with their TPS applications in the US; she is one of the attorneys working on the Cholera case against the United Nations on behalf of the victims in Haiti and contributed extensively in writing and proofreading the two Amicus Briefs submitted to the NY Southern District Court of Appeals. In addition, Ms. Michel has been involved with advocating on behalf of Haitians migrants living in the Bahamas, Canada, and the Dominican Republic. She serves on the Finance Committee at Saint Bartholomew Catholic Church, Miramar, Florida.

Ms. Michel has been honored and recognized by many academic and social organizations for her outstanding work and involvement including but not limited to Amnesty International; the Florida Immigrant Coalition (FLIC); the Orange County for a Drug Free Community; the Department of Treasury (IRS); the National Criminal Justice Honor Society; the International Mission on Diplomacy; the National Scholar Honor Society; Florida A&M School of Law; Valencia Community College; the Black High Achievers Club; the Haitian Lawyers Association; the Association of Exchange and Development of Activities and Partnership Inc.
