Virtual
Date: Date TBA
Description
Exploring the transformative impact of higher education on Haiti’s development through the lens of the Haitian Education and Leadership Program (HELP).
As Haiti continues to face systemic challenges—from gang violence and political instability to economic uncertainty—HELP has remained steadfast in its mission to educate and empower the next generation of Haitian leaders.
This conversation aims to bring together HELP alumni, staff, scholars, friends of education, friends of Haiti and supporters (existing and prospects) to discuss how access to quality education and a strong leadership network can change the trajectory of a country. The symposium will highlight HELP’s model of merit-based scholarships, academic support, and leadership training, and how this approach has enabled young Haitians to become change agents in their communities and beyond.
Topic Focus Areas
- Access to Higher Education in Haiti
- Leadership Development and Civic Engagement
- Economic Mobility and Youth Empowerment
- Challenges in Education Amid Crisis (Security, Migration, Inflation)

Symposium Goals
- Showcase the stories of HELP students and alumni as examples of educational resilience and leadership in action.
- Engage the Haitian diaspora and international partners in a discussion on the importance of investing in education as a long-term solution for Haiti’s challenges.
- Provide a platform for exploring how similar educational models can be replicated and scaled.
