Description

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to severely impact all levels of society and communities around the world, the National Alliance for the Advancement of Haitian Professionals (NAAHP) recognizes that women owned businesses across the Haitian Diaspora are especially vulnerable at this time. We know that Haitian women are the “PotoMitan”, or the backbone of the economy, and this is why we are curating the COVID-19 Virtual Symposium-Impact on Haitian Women Entrepreneur as part of our mission to educate, connect, and empower.

Topic Focus Areas

  • Mental Health “Met Ko Ki Veye Ko” – a taboo/sensitive subject in the Haitian Community but imperative for discussion especially now
  • COVID-19 Impact on Haitian Women Businesses & Lessons learned
  • Access to resources for women owned businesses
  • Perspectives on Motherhood

Virtual Symposium Goals

The NAAHP COVID-19 Virtual Symposium- Impact on Haitian Women entrepreneurs will highlight Haitian Women in business, government and mental health in a discussion that will address the many challenges caused by COVID-19. The purpose of this digital conversation is to engage the Haitian Community in an in-depth dialogue to connect and inspire women across the Haitian diaspora as well as discuss how Haitian Women-owned businesses have not only been affected by COVID19, but share what these women entrepreneurs have learned from it; and facilitate an insightful and open discussion about mental health, which is very taboo in our community. We will also discuss access to resources for women owned businesses and best practices in this current climate.
