Online Public Deliberation Forum: Ann Pale Ayiti!

Virtual
Date: Saturday, September 9, 2023
Time: 5:00-7:00 PM EST
Description
In recent years, there have been numerous calls for a national dialogue in Haiti. While several iterations of a national dialogue have been attempted, none has succeeded in addressing the many social, economic, and political challenges that Haitians continue to face on a daily basis. As the country’s woes continue to take a toll on its citizens, many are left asking – where do we go from here? Today, the debate is not about whether a national dialogue is needed – it is rather about who should be involved and how to do so in way that values every citizen. This forum is part of a research study that seeks to generate an open model that can be used to facilitate an inclusive dialogue among the Haitian people.
Topic Focus Areas
- Haitians/Haitian Immigrants
- Haitians/Haitian Immigrants interested in a national dialogue in Haiti
- Haitians/Haitian Immigrants interested in community-problem solving
- Haitians/Haitian Immigrants involved in capacity building
Symposium Goals
“Ann Pale Ayiti!” examines the multiple factors that can make or break an inclusive dialogue among Haitians at home and abroad. The forum creates opportunities for participants to practice public deliberation by using an open model for inclusive dialogue developed by the Coalition for an Inclusive Dialogue.
