NAAHP and Saint Augustine’s University (SAU) Partner on New Scholarship for Haitian Students

December 21, 2021

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Hillside, New Jersey, December 21, 2021 — The National Alliance for the Advancement of Haitian Professionals (NAAHP) and Saint Augustine’s University (SAU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), formalizing their collaboration to offer the NAAHP Haitian American Leadership Award Scholarship to Haitian citizens.

The MOU shall continue in effect for two years from the date of execution to select Haitian students to apply, matriculate, and complete their degree program at SAU. It will provide two full scholarships each fall and spring semester to two qualifying Haitian students that the NAAHP recognizes are approved for application and admission to the University.

Saint Augustine’s University’s mission is to sustain a learning community in which students can prepare academically, socially and spiritually for leadership in a complex, diverse and rapidly changing world.

We at Saint Augustine’s University are excited about partnering with the National Alliance for the Advancement of Haitian Professionals organization to provide a post-secondary education to select Haitian students. There is so much devastation currently happening in Haiti, man-made and natural, as global stewards we must contribute however we can to improve the situation for residents. For us that means preparing the next generation by providing a better education. said Dr. Janita M. Patrick, Associate VP for Student Success, Saint Augustine’s University (SAU).

NAAHP is focused on rebuilding Haiti through philanthropy and social entrepreneurship.

NAAHP has given a platform to so many of us in the diaspora to express ourselves as a nation to the rest of the world, and provided a forum for us to collaborate on ideas for improving life in both our respective communities abroad, and back home in Haiti. This partnership with St Augustine University reinforces the notion that education, knowledge, and wisdom continue to be the beating hearts of our society from generation to generation. I’m ecstatic to be a part of this effort to reach and elevate those with less opportunity and access to the world-class institutions in America. said Jacques M. Jean, NAAHP Advisory Board Member and Founder and CEO, TechFides.

We at NAAHP are beyond proud to announce this scholarship collaboration with Saint Augustine University. My sincerest hope is that this scholarship will enable some of the greatest Haitian minds to fulfill their potential, just as so many African American Scholars began their education at this phenomenal HBCU.  Thank you, Saint Augustine University, for partnering with NAAHP to provide a better and more certain future for the Haitian Diaspora!” said Molina Jean-Louis, Executive Vice President, NAAHP.
