Brian L’Oiseau

Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

Brian L’Oiseau is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of New Jersey. He has over 20 years of experience in the field of mental health. He currently runs his private practice, KNIC Counseling & Consulting Services, LLC, which he established 14 years ago. He received his Bachelors in Psychology from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, in 2001. He received his Masters in Counselor Education from Kean University in 2004. He has also been a National Board Certified Counselor (NCC) since 2004, and during the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. L’Oiseau obtained his Board Certified Tele-Mental Health (BC-TMH) provider credential.

Mr. L’Oiseau has worked in a variety of settings including community mental health agencies, inpatient hospitals, and public schools. Mr. L’Oiseau’s areas of expertise and experience include: Stress Management, Couples Counseling, Parenting Issues, Family Therapy, Domestic Violence, Group Counseling, Anger Management, Minority Issues, Christian Counseling, Career Counseling, Mood Disorders (including Depression and Bipolar Disorder), Anxiety Disorders (including Social Phobias and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), Personality Disorders, Psychotic Disorders (including Schizophrenia), and Substance Abuse Disorders.

Mr. L’Oiseau is also a Licensed School Counselor in the state of New Jersey and is well acquainted with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), the classification process, and Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs). He has experience working with children and adolescents diagnosed with ADHD, Conduct Disorders, Depression, and Autism Spectrum Disorder. He has also provided counseling services to classified students.

Even though Cognitive Behavior Therapy is Mr. L’Oiseau’s primary theoretical orientation, he is rather eclectic in use of other theories. His counseling style is non judgmental and naturally humanistic, implementing unconditional positive regards towards clients. He emphasizes Multiculturalism in his clinical practice under the belief that culture reflects the heart of a people.
