Christ-Berly Derival
University of Iowa

My name is Christ-Berly Derival. I am an international student from Haiti and a junior at Luther College majoring in psychology. I will be starting my Master of Public Health in Community and Behavioral Health at the University of Iowa while completing my senior year, reflecting my commitment to health equity and serving marginalized communities. I am someone who values empathy, integrity, inclusion, and clear communication. I care deeply about making people feel supported and respected, and I approach every role I take on with purpose and compassion.
At Luther, I serve as a Resident Assistant, represent Olson and Larsen Halls in Student Senate, and work as the Public Relations Coordinator for the International Students & Allies Association. These positions have allowed me to advocate for others and foster inclusive spaces. I also work as an Activity Aide and intern at Aase Haugen senior care facility, where I support elderly residents through social engagement and human-centered care. I am part of a research team focused on the psychology of forgiveness and have presented our work at conferences such as mUPC. Outside the classroom, I am a member of the Afro Dance Club and the Beta Theta Omega (BTQ) sorority, where I build community through cultural expression and service.
