Daphnee Charles
Haiti Development Officer, HELP
Co-Founder, ACTIVEH

Daphnee Charles has a degree in agro-economics from Université Quisqueya (class of 2013) thanks to a merit and needs-based scholarship from the Haitian Education and leadership Program (HELP).
While at Quisqueya she completed a fellowship program at Dartmouth College and the Bridge program at Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business.
Fresh after graduation, Daphnée led the production of a theme song, “Nou an danje” with 10 prominent Haitian artists, for an awareness campaign on climate change and biodiversity sponsored by Panos Caribbean and UNDP .
Daphnée is currently HELP’s Haiti Development and alumni Affairs manager where she oversees all Haiti-based fundraising (about $500,000 annually), addressing one of the most important challenges in Haiti, access to higher education. Haiti has one of the lowest University enrollment rates in the world (less than 5%) along with one of the highest rates of brain drain at 84%. Daphnée strongly believes that improving the situation of the country requires more educated, ethical leaders.
Daphnee is very engaged in the promotion and development of her country. She is co- founder of Haiti’s largest pan-university student association ACTIVEH.
Daphnée’s influential work in Haiti has been widely recognized at home and abroad. In 2017 she was named one of the top 10 most influential women in Haiti by the Lorquet Foundation. In 2020 she received one of 20 under 40 Young Professionals awards from the Haitian American Chamber of Commerce of Florida and the award of Sco Tour Haïti and Initiative des Femmes Haïtiennes dans le Tourisme as one of the 50 most inspiring role models for Haitian Women.
