Dr. Ajaya Williams

Clinical Assistant Professor, Florida International University's Masters in Athletic Training Program

Dr. Ajaya Williams is a Clinical Assistant Professor for Florida International Universities Masters in Athletic Training program. She formerly served as the Clinical Education Coordinator and Lecturer of the University of Miami’s Athletic Training Program.
She came to Miami in 2017 from Columbia University, where she was an athletic training staff member for over ten years. She coordinated the medical care for Columbia’s Men’s Basketball and other sports programs during her tenure.
Dr. Williams earned her Athletic Training degree from Hofstra University, a Master’s degree in Sports Administration from Florida State University, and her doctoral degree in Health Education from the Columbia University Teacher’s College.
A New York native, Dr. Williams established a record as a volunteer in her community with various sports organizations. She provided athletic training coverage for local sports leagues and presented routinely on preventative health care for underserved populations. Dr. Williams is the Chairperson of the Ethnic Diversity Advisory Committee for the Athletic Trainers Association of Florida and was recognized by Legacy Miami 40 under 40, which honors Miami’s Black leaders of today and tomorrow. In addition to her continual service to the community, she enjoys aiding in her Athletic Training student’s exposure to adequate clinical education experiences at Florida International University.
