Dr. Orcel Kounga
Senior Director of Admissions, Enrollment, and Student Affairs, Drexel University College of Medicine

Dr. Orcel Kounga holds two degrees from Drexel University, as well as a degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He currently serves as Senior Director of Admissions, Enrollment, and Student Affairs at Drexel University College of Medicine.
In this role, Dr. Kounga helps shape the experience of future physicians—from admission through graduation—overseeing admissions, student affairs, and key milestones such as orientation, leadership development, Match Day, and commencement. He also serves as an adjunct professor in Drexel’s School of Education and mentors students pursuing careers in health sciences and higher education.
Dr. Kounga has built his career at Drexel across multiple areas of student life, including admissions, housing and residence life, student conduct, and leadership programs, giving him a comprehensive perspective on the student experience.
Beyond the university, he is actively engaged in educational and nonprofit leadership. He serves as a trustee of Archmere Academy and the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia, and as an alumni board member for Drexel’s Board of Governors, contributing to strategic planning, alumni engagement, and advancement initiatives.
He is passionate about education as a pathway to opportunity, leadership, and service. Outside of his professional work, he enjoys traveling, attending concerts, and cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles.
