Gabrielle Aurel

Co-Founder & CEO, Sonje Ayiti

Gabrielle Aurel is an inspiring example of a woman who has embraced the humanitarian cause with passion and dedication.  She chose to leave a career at the Georgia Department of Human Resources Division of Public Heath in Atlanta to invest her management skills and resources in Sonje Ayiti (remember Haiti), a leading humanitarian actor in Northern Haiti.  This Haitian non-profit organization has successfully adopted a graduation approach “Pathway Out of Poverty” to lift rural families out of extreme poverty through education, economic development, and health promotion. It has recently launched an initiative focusing on the multiplication and distribution through an in-kind credit system of quality cassava stem cutting to intensify cassava production and increase food security and incomes of farming households in Limonade.  Gabrielle is also a leader in the Northern business sector. She is co-founder and General Secretary of the board of directors of SAPEN S.A., the only vertically integrated company that controls its production from breeder chicks, feed production to the slaughtering and distribution of broiler chicken in Haiti. She holds a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems and business Administration at DeVry University in Decatur, Georgia.
