Dr. Gilbert Saint-Jean, PhD

Born and raised in the United States and of Haitian descent, Dr. Saint Jean has broad experience in bringing interdisciplinary science to address real-world problems. As a Ph.D. student at the University of Notre Dame (USA), Dr. Saint Jean was a National Science Foundation (NSF) sponsored GLOBES (Global Linkages of Biology, the Environment, and Society) Fellow. He was a principal investigator for a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation funded project that engaged the Haitian diaspora in eliminating neglected tropical disease lymphatic filariasis/elephantiasis and iodine deficiency disorder from Haiti, a global health and development concern. Further along, he has conducted market research and analysis work on unmet needs of the biopharmaceutical industry and has led social equality engagement efforts in underprivileged communities for the United States government.
