Jorge E. Sousa

Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management & Student Success, Saint Augustine's University

Mr. Jorge E. Sousa, III, is the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management & Student Success at Saint Augustine’s University (Raleigh, North Carolina). He is a native of Panama City, Panama, and a graduate of Fort Knox High School, Fort Knox, Kentucky. Following graduation, he immediately enrolled at Kentucky State University, Frankfort, Kentucky, where he completed a baccalaureate degree in Business Administration and Marketing and a Master of Arts degree in Public Administration and International Development. He is currently pursuing his Doctoral degree in Developmental Education at Grambling State University, Louisiana.

Throughout the last twenty-plus years working in higher education, he has worked in various positions in enrollment management and institutional advancement and development in Kentucky, Georgia, North Carolina, and Louisiana. He began his career in higher education at Kentucky State University as a college admissions counselor and recruiter and later worked at Reinhardt University as Assistant Director of Admissions. In addition, he’s worked in various capacities at Saint Augustine’s University, including Director of Admissions, Director of Annual Campaign and Employee Giving, and Dean of Enrollment Management, and later at Southern University at Shreveport as Director of Admissions, Dean of Enrollment, and adjunct Spanish professor.

Mr. Sousa is a member of numerous boards and civic organizations. He is a visionary leader and a strong advocate for education, student development, and organizational growth. In addition, he is passionate about the philosophical and theoretical points of view of community colleges in the 21st century that influence effective leadership.

His life goal is to assist in the outreach and support of minorities through early intervention and exposure to the value of skilled trades and scholarship opportunities and aid in bridging the gap for immigrant students seeking a pathway to higher education.

He is married to Angela N. Sousa, a retired Army veteran, has three children and three grandkids, and resides in Clayton, North Carolina.
