Marie Carmel Emmanuel

First generation Haitian American, born and raised in New York. Proud mother of four grown professional children and one grandson.
Semi-retired teacher with over 20 years in the field education. Earned Bachelor’s degree in special education at Nova Southeastern University, Fl and masters English as a Second Language (ESL) from NC State University, NC. Her experience ranges from (k-12 & adult) certified teacher, facilitator, teacher cadet trainer, learning coach, tutor and mentor.
Prides herself as an active member of her community. Member & volunteer of NAAHP. Volunteer advocate with Guardian Ad Litem of Guilford County, NC. Serves as precinct vice-chair for North Carolina Democratic Party and member of African American Caucus. Former member of the Haitian American Democratic club of Broward County, FL. Former superintended of Christian education; current Sunday school teacher.
She currently works with a non-profit organization called Operation Xcel; exposing youth to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) program.
