Mioulca Joulie Saintilma

Biology and Society Student, Cornell University

My name is Mioulca Joulie Saintilma, I was born and raised in Ouanaminthe, Haiti. I enrolled in Wilde Lake High School as a junior, having moved to the U.S. with my family from Haiti. Despite my initial culture shock, I ought to support other new Americans from a diversity of backgrounds. As the President of the Multilingual Leadership Program, I fostered a sense of community among 100+ students and their families by creating a Welcome Packet for new ESOL students and organizing the Multi-Language Family Night. As the representative of the ESOL Student Government Association (SGA), and President of the Wilde Lake International Club, I led my peers in organizing Culture Day, which brought together 1300+ community members. By reaching across borders to celebrate diversity, I helped to “knit together” my community. My goal is to become a Pediatrician to help Haitian children who suffer from malnutrition. I will major in Biology at Cornell University.
