Nadia Assad

Community Activist, Painter/Artist

Nadia Assad has a true passion and history of service to her community. She bridges the gap between cultures and other diverse factors by focusing on common dreams of the community. Some common dreams are improved education, increased economic growth and an overall improvement in our environment. These dreams are affectionately referred to as her 3Es.: Education, Economics and Environment. These dreams are interwoven throughout her personal and professional life.

Nadia is a proud, active resident of Lauderhill, Florida. She was born and raised in Port Au Prince, Haiti and migrated to South Florida in 1997. Upon arrival she attended Miami-Dade College and Rock-Hurst University. She holds degrees in Hospitality, Nursing and Healthcare Administration. Additionally, she holds certifications in Business Management, Cultural Diversity, Community Relations and Education, Depression and Anxiety Treatment in youth, Mental Health Ambassador, Art Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Practitioner. As a single mother of four and caretaker of her mother, Nadia understands and appreciates the importance of sharing information, increasing economic power and having a safe, welcoming environment. These factors fuel her passion to serve the public professionally and personally. As a public servant Nadia uses her fluency in Haitian Kreole, French and Spanish to build bridges and advocate for the community.

Nadia is also actively involved in the business and economic interests of the community. After working for the Haitian American Chamber of Commerce for two years, Nadia was asked to serve on the Economic Development, Constituent Services and Public Safety Committee. In this capacity she connected with various stakeholders to collectively educate the community, increase the economic growth and the overall safety of the community. She has served as a Constituent Service Representative for the City of North Miami Mayor and Council Office.

Nadia is currently building bridges and has served the public professionally as an Administrative Assistant with the City of Fort Lauderdale Police Department. In addition to her volunteerism Nadia has hosted and/or participated in several educational Radio shows, TV Shows, podcasts, and workshops. The subject matters included Voter education, Census 2020, Mental Health Education, Family and Youth Empowerment.

Additionally, Nadia is also an accomplished painter/artist and has acted in live theater at the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center. Her artwork and acting are used to educate, raise awareness and bring positive light to our community.

As a result of her passion for public service, she has provided thousands of hours of community service and has inspired others to do the same. Examples of Nadia’s community service and engagement includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Haitian – American Chamber of Commerce – Director of Community Relations
  • Lauderhill Police Department Volunteer Program (Citizen Police Academy) Youth Program Speaker and Special Projects
  • Lauderhill Fire Rescue CERT Team -Volunteer Team Member
  • Look Through My Eyes Foundation (Visually Impaired Foundation /Beep Base Ball Team) – Advisory Board Committee
  • Fom Sove Production Inc., (Youth and Single Mom Empowerment) – Vice President
  • Haitian – American Democratic Club – Director of Community Education
  • Club Des Artist (Production, support and promote, advocacy, education of artists) – Acting and Secretary
  • Tamarac Sawgrass Democratic Club – Member
  • Kiwanis of Lauderhill – Member
  • Parkway Middle School of Art – Mentor

Nadia’s dedication and commitment to the community has earned her several awards. These awards include the following:

Nadia Assad has been honed by years in business and community service. Nadia Assad has the experience, skills, and drive to get things done. She has gained valuable experience in a full spectrum of issues affecting residents and the business community. Nadia is driven by the needs of the community.
