Patricia “Nurse Patti” Lafontant

Patricia graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree from Florida A&M University and Masters of Science from Duke University as an Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner. Nurse Patti has been a nurse leader and advocate for over 14 years. In 2015 Nurse Patti was a guest host On the Dr. Oz show and presented on the spread of flu and how to protect ourselves.

She founded the Lafontant Foundation, non profit organization focused on closing healthcare disparity gaps in vulnerable communities. Nurse Patti is also a Doula and was part of Mayor Muriel Bowsers Maternal Health summit that focused on the mortality of black women during childbirth. Nurse Patti has been featured in the Washington post advocating for frontline health workers and trademarked the phrase “No PPE No Me.” Nurse Patti is the face of Dove’s “courage is beautiful campaign” and has been featured in the New York Times discussing her experience on the front lines as an ER nurse. Nurse Patti has also been featured in publications like Allure magazine and Bustle.

Nurse Patti is the daughter of two Haitian parents from Las Cahobas located in Plateau central and Jacmel. She was born and raised in Miami Florida and has been a proud resident of Southeast Washington DC for the past 8 years. When Patricia is not advocating and serving her community she indulges in her other profession as a Professional Photographer and Painter. Patricia is skilled in international medical missions volunteering her time in Haiti,Nicaragua and West Africa.
