Rhona Vega

Founder and CEO, Parent Matterz

Rhona has spent the last 35 years cultivating Parent Matterz while managing the education of her 5 children. Rather than keeping powerful and life changing resources to herself, Rhona began using Parent Matterz as a vehicle to share resources and empower parents around the globe with educational tools and resources to help their own children find their passion and succeed. Rhona is a change agent, dynamic educator, motivational speaker and success coach.

We launched The Power of Exposure: Youth Inspiring Youth! A powerful conversation with young people who want to share their journey and help others achieve the same. Our lineup for January features superstars in Congress, Google, the NFL, Facebook, Interns on the Hill, Jordan/Nike marketing representative to name a few. All past and future episodes can be viewed on the ParentMattterz Youtube channel. Please like and subscribe.

Parent Matterz has been instrumental in connecting students to corporate internships, study abroad programs in Tanzania and Costa Rica as well as leadership programs at Google, JP Morgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, All Star Code, Unilever, Cornell, University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business, Northwestern, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Rutgers Business School, New York University and Spelman to name a few. Two of Rhona’s children have attended Bergen Academies in Hackensack and Bergen Tech Academy in Teterboro and through Parent Matterz she has successfully exposed and assisted students through the admission process. Most recently my sixth child (adopted neighbor) was admitted into Cornell!!!!! My heart is so full because she has been apart of our family since 2nd grade. The key is her mom and family allowed us to guide them.

Rhona and her children have conducted workshops at Union City High School, Orange Public Schools, Teaneck High School, numerous PTO meetings, local churches and at other community based organizations.

Parent Matterz is proud of its students as recipients of scholarships from the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women, The Executive Leadership Council, Mu Boule’, Fast Track, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Hope Chest, The National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives, The Links, Kappa Theta Lambda, Alice Benekin, Howard University, Delaware State University, Long Island University, Spelman College, One Hundred Black Men and numerous other organizations not listed.

Parent Matterz introduced local high school students to Fast Track: an intensive nine month financial literacy program held at Goldman Sachs in New York City. This program is life changing and continues to assist students in securing summer internships, mentors and college scholarships. In addition, Parent Matterz has connected numerous middle and high school students to Saturday STEM programs; exposing students to careers in engineering, cyber security and cryptography at Fairleigh Dickinson University and Copper Union.

Parent Matterz hosted its inaugural Opportunities Expo at Teaneck High School, which enabled all students to speak with representatives from fortune 500 companies, civil service employers, educational and vocational opportunities, summer enrichment programs, scholarships, mentorship and gap year programs, volunteer, internship and job opportunities. We were thrilled that our voter registration representatives were successful in registering many students to vote at the Expo.

We are grateful to have received The 2020 Entrepreneurship award by the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women and The 2019 Community Relations and Professional Leadership Award to name a few.

Parent Matterz is on a mission to provide mentorship to parents and students by exposing them to limitless opportunities and resources! Airing early 2021,

Rhona will host her brilliant new weekly television show called “More Than Enough” on the Promote Her Channel which may be watched on Roku, Hulu, Amazon Firestick, Apple TV, IOS and Android App Stores and WEbTV.
