Stephanie S. Thomas

Stephanie S. Thomas comes from humble beginnings, born and raised by Haitian parents who migrated to the US in the 1960s and later found their dream home in the City of Miami. The family attended the historic Roman Catholic church in Miami known as Gesu Church while living in the district. As a public servant and fervent resident of District Five, Stephanie has shown commitment, compassion, and leadership through her work ethics with high integrity.

Stephanie S. Thomas has worked in the government sector as a dedicated public servant for over eighteen years working in government for the Mayor and Council Office, Finance Department, Community Planning & Development, and as a Deputy City Clerk who understands the importance of creating and adopting legislations. Prior to that she worked and managed private physician practices. She also worked for the University of Miami Sylvester Cancer Center and Barry University. She is committed to listening to the concerns of constituents and finding pragmatic solutions. She is known in the community as a person who analyze a situation and gets the job done. She understands what it takes to run a municipal government and the fiscal financial responsibility of a civil servant. Stephanie is ready to lead the day to day on issues important to the community which includes affordable housing, homeownership, gentrification, socioeconomic gaps, economic development, healthcare issues, build on healthcare opportunities, expand on education, safety of the community, advocating for climate control, strengthening opportunities for small business owners and creating jobs. She is also passionate and sincere about the needs of the aging population and encourages programs that will benefit our youth.

She is currently pursuing a Doctorate Degree in Health Sciences with Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS). Stephanie’s passion and commitment is assuring that healthcare access is available to the underserved population, cultivating the healthcare system, bringing awareness to others on the importance of organ donations, and maternal mortality. Through her church, New Vision Emmanuel Baptist Church, she is involved in various ministries where she volunteers her time doing community outreach. Stephanie is married to Shawn Thomas, a double organ recipient, and have two adult children Ariayanna Val and Shawn who are both attending college.

Stephanie is committed to STEP IN and STEP OUT for our community!
