Sylvain Kakou

Resident Representative for Haiti, International Finance Corporation

Mr. Kakou joined IFC Latin America and Caribbean region as Resident Representative for Haiti in November 2014. He is currently leading IFC operations both investments and advisory services to support private sector development in Haiti. He was previously IFC Country Head for Zambia and Malawi since July 2010, leading IFC business development efforts with a focus on priority sectors including mining, oil and gas, financial markets, agribusiness, manufacturing and infrastructure (power, telecom, roads and transport). Mr. Kakou joined IFC in March 2006 and has been a key member of the IFC Africa team with responsibilities for the business origination, execution and portfolio management for Agribusiness. Prior to joining IFC, Mr. Kakou worked for five years with Citibank’s corporate finance Africa division, two years with HSBC Bank’s Sub-Saharan Africa hub, and for four years with Côte d’Ivoire’s Government think-tank, BNETD, to promote private sector infrastructure investments. Mr. Kakou, a Cote d’Ivoire national, holds an MBA in Financial Management from Drexel University, Philadelphia (USA) and a Master in International Project Finance and Management from the European School of Management, ESCP-EAP, Paris (France).
