Wensess Raphael

Wensess Raphael is a proud Black Haitian American from Dorchester, Massachusetts. She is a first generation graduate student. Wensess holds a Master’s in Education Leadership, Organizations, and Entrepreneurship from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Science in Human Services from Northeastern University. She has taken on numerous leadership roles throughout her career, known for her passion for hosting and leading events, Wensess has organized and managed various programs and recognition ceremonies, bringing people together to create meaningful experiences.

Wensess Raphael has always had a passion for education and working with young people. Her career spans over 22 years, beginning with roles as a teaching assistant in both kindergarten and middle school. After graduating, Wensess felt compelled to give back to her community, leading her to join City Year and serve at Orchard Gardens in Roxbury. It was through this experience that she realized her desire to work beyond the classroom, shaping the futures of young people in more impactful ways. She has mentored over 1000 students and supported their academic and personal growth. Her commitment to underserved communities continued as advised and mentored families in need, while strengthening relationships with students, families, and staff. Wensess is deeply committed to ensuring equitable opportunities for all students. In her free time, she enjoys staying active which will include dancing, going to the gym, spa , exploring new foods, and trying new things.
