Conference Overview
Empowered to thrive! Charting the Way to a New Height in the Haitian Diaspora
This year, we are celebrating the 10th year anniversary of the National Alliance for the Advancement of Haitian Professionals (NAAHP). During those years, we have harnessed the human capital of the diaspora to ignite active civic, economic, and political engagements and participation in the United States and Haiti. Through our multi-stakeholder approach, we have partnered with the public and private sectors as well as civil society organizations operating in the United States and Haiti on a wide range of issues– including education, investment and entrepreneurship, technology, disaster relief and preparedness, technology, and tourism. Our name has become synonymous with convening power, knowledge transfer, resource mobilization, the Haitian LinkedIn, and capacity building. Above all, the NAAHP Conference has served as a:
- Trusted space that connects members of the Haitian diaspora of all professional backgrounds;
- Platform where creative ideas are transformed into actions; and
- Bridge between the country of origin—Haiti—and the host country—the United States.
As we celebrate what we have accomplished over the years, we also want to position ourselves for another dimension of service to the Haitian community worldwide. The journey to greater heights starts with a vision of the Haitian diaspora operating as an economic, a cultural, and a political power to positively impact the Haitian Diaspora worldwide and contribute to the rebuilding of Haiti. To achieve our vision, it requires a shift in our mindset as individuals and as a group. It demands that each one of us understands and adopt a growth mindset at the individual and community levels.
OBJECTIVES
The 2022 conference will:
- Explore what it means to be a powerful diaspora and determine the road to get there;
- Showcase impactful projects focusing on empowering the Haitian community and leverage them to strengthen the diaspora political, economic, and social power; and
- Identify innovative and sustainable ways to continue to support Haiti, against all odds, and create pathways that promote Diaspora’s participation.
OUTCOMES
At the end of the conference, you will:
- Be empowered with the tools and knowledge needed to be change agents in the Diaspora and in Haiti;
- Identify pathways and opportunities for engagement and participation in the Diaspora and in Haiti; and
- Meet and connect with like-minded change agents.
