The Haitian Diaspora: Disrupting and Redefining the Road Ahead

Disrupting the status quo, revolutionizing the professional landscape and re-defining the Diaspora’s narrative in workforce through advancements in technology, innovation, economic policy, entrepreneurship, political activism and diversity.

The 7th Annual National Alliance for the Advancement of Haitian Professionals (NAAHP) Conference is returning to the greater Miami area in partnership with Florida International University (FIU) and the City of North Miami. We look forward to having you join us as we explore this year’s theme — Haitian Diaspora: Disrupting and Redefining the Road Ahead taking place on October 25 – 27, 2018 at the Kovens Conference Center, located on FIU’s Biscayne Bay Campus in North Miami.

The 2018 theme will touch on many timely issues including best practices in leadership, technology, entrepreneurship, innovation, professional development, economic growth, diversity and inclusion and the role of the millennial Diaspora in shaping the future workforce in the US, Haiti and abroad. Our goal for this year’s conference is to examine the potential opportunities facing the Diaspora as technology, innovation, diversity and ingenuity becomes increasingly central to economy, development, and policymaking. This year’s conference will provide a lively space to consider the ways, in which innovative and transformative ideas can be successfully leveraged to positively shape the future of the Diaspora and their professional narrative.

The last six years have demonstrated the value of bringing together leaders, doers, innovators, entrepreneurs, educators, civic leaders and students together to discuss the prospects and potential of the Diaspora’s growth, and we look forward to continuing to contribute to these important conversations.

Through candid and holistic conversations, we hope to showcase how the Diaspora stakeholders have already begun to deploy unexpected and entrepreneurial solutions to solve a number of issues. By bringing together an expert and diverse range of panelists and keynote speakers, we aim to ensure that the NAAHP continues to provide a forum for meaningful engagement.

We hope to continue to build upon and grow the NAAHP for many more years to come, without losing sight of the vision that underpins this event:

  • one of connectedness;
  • commitment to creating a space for Haitian Diaspora professionals to gather, engage, network;
  • commitment to highlighting the accomplishments of the Diaspora;
  • commitment to educating the Diaspora professionally;
  • and, creating a platform where the collective voices and professional/economic capital of the Diaspora can be leveraged for the advancement of Haitian professionals both for the homeland, domestically and abroad.
