Explò Group: Building Beyond Construction, Rooted in Community and Purpose
Founded by lifelong friends and engineers Olson and Djemcy, Explò Group is more than a Florida-based contracting firm—it is a mission-driven organization dedicated to safe, sustainable building and community empowerment.
The two met while studying civil engineering at Florida International University (FIU), and after years of working on major infrastructure projects across Florida, they decided to join forces. Their goal was clear: not just to construct buildings, but to **educate and uplift communities**—in Florida, Haiti, and beyond.
Building the Right Way
The idea for Explò Group emerged from a gap they noticed in their community. Too often, homeowners were building without permits, cutting corners to save money, only to face devastating financial and legal problems later.
“Doing construction the right way means more than following rules—it’s about protecting families’ investments and creating generational wealth,” Olson explains. Without proper permits, properties lose value, records are incomplete, and future owners inherit costly problems.
That’s why Explò Group puts education at the heart of its mission. The firm guides clients step-by-step through the permitting and zoning process, showing them that compliance isn’t just bureaucracy—it’s a path to long-term security and equity.
From Florida to Haiti: A Broader Vision
While their operations are headquartered in Florida, Explò Group’s vision extends internationally. In 2019, the company first launched in Haiti, contributing to rebuilding efforts despite the country’s political and economic challenges. Projects have ranged from local park renovations to larger infrastructure bids.
Both founders bring strong professional experience:
Olson has led projects improving public safety, including state highway expansions and pedestrian safety measures that reduced accidents in Miami.
Djemcy has worked on some of Miami’s most iconic developments, such as the Hard Rock Hotel and Brickell City Centre.
For them, construction is deeply personal. “Everyone can build big things,” Djemcy notes, “but it’s the small details that matter most—those are what people live with every day.”
Community Builders
What truly sets Explore Group apart is its community-centered philosophy. The founders dedicate time to:
- Mentoring young engineers and students interested in STEM.
- Educating homeowners on the financial and safety benefits of legal construction.
- Promoting generational wealth by teaching families how real estate, when managed properly, can be a long-term asset.
- Planning podcasts, YouTube content, and outreach programs to spread this knowledge further.
We’re not just building projects—we’re building people and communities, Djemcy emphasizes.
Rooted in Faith, Family, and Culture
Behind their professional mission lies a personal foundation of faith, family, and cultural pride. Both Olson and Djemcy point to their Haitian heritage and their parents’ sacrifices as their deepest inspiration.
“If my parents hadn’t instilled those values in me, I could have easily gotten caught up in the lifestyle here,” Olson reflects. “Instead, their sacrifices gave me purpose. Everything I do is tied back to God, family, and the hope of contributing to Haiti’s future.”
They also find it inspiring that second-generation Haitians in the U.S.—many who have never lived in Haiti—are showing interest in investing and contributing to the country’s reconstruction.
Outside of work, balance is key. Hobbies like soccer, golf, or the beach still play a role, even if less frequent than in their younger years. For Djemcy, soccer is more than just a pastime: “It’s the one thing that clears my mind. When I’m on the field, I can’t think of anything else.” Both agree that staying grounded and healthy sets an example for the young people they mentor.
Looking Forward
In the next decade, Explò Group envisions growth across the U.S., Latin America, and Haiti, where they hope to contribute to long-term solutions such as urban planning, zoning reform, accurate land records, and sustainable financing. Their dream is to modernize infrastructure while training a new generation of Haitian builders, engineers, and entrepreneurs.
Their advice to the next generation?
Think of real estate as generational wealth—something to build and protect, not just flip.
Be patient and disciplined—success in engineering and construction comes from both study and experience.
Find mentors and take on challenges—the hardest projects offer the most growth.
Building Beyond Buildings
For Olson and Djemcy, Explò Group is more than a company. It’s a legacy of integrity, resilience, and service. Their work is guided by the belief that construction is not just about concrete and steel, but about building safe spaces, strong communities, and a sustainable future.
As Olson puts it: “We’re building not just for ourselves, but for the next generation.”
