Xplò Group: Building Beyond Construction, Rooted in Community and Purpose

Haitian Diaspora, Culture, Haiti

Article By: Erica Lopidas

Founded by lifelong friends and engineers Olson and Djemcy, Explò Group is more than a Florida-based contracting firm — it is a mission-driven company committed to safe, sustainable construction, community education, and long-term empowerment.

The two met while studying civil engineering at Florida International University (FIU). After years of contributing to major infrastructure and development projects across Florida, they decided to combine their expertise and build something of their own. Their vision was never just about structures — it was about creating impact.

Their goal was clear: to build not only properties, but stronger, more informed communities in Florida, Haiti, and beyond.

Building the Right Way

The idea for Explò Group was born out of a need they repeatedly saw in their community: many homeowners lacked access to clear information about construction permits, zoning requirements, and code compliance.

Too often, families try to cut corners in an effort to save money — only to face serious financial, legal, and safety consequences later.

“Doing construction the right way means more than following rules,” Olson explains. “It’s about protecting families’ investments and helping create generational wealth.”

Without proper permits and documentation, properties can lose value, records may remain incomplete, and future owners often inherit expensive problems.

That is why education is central to Explò Group’s mission. The company walks clients through the permitting and zoning process step by step, helping them understand that compliance is not simply red tape — it is a foundation for security, stability, and equity.

From Florida to Haiti: A Broader Vision

Although Explò Group is headquartered in Florida, its vision extends far beyond the state.

The company first launched in Haiti in 2019, where the founders sought to contribute to rebuilding and development efforts despite the country’s ongoing political and economic challenges. Their work has included projects ranging from local park renovations to larger infrastructure opportunities.

Both founders bring significant technical and field experience to the company:

Olson has led projects focused on public safety and transportation infrastructure, including state highway expansions and pedestrian safety improvements that have helped reduce accidents in Miami.

Djemcy has contributed to some of South Florida’s most recognizable developments, including the Hard Rock Hotel and Brickell City Centre.

For both men, construction is more than a profession — it is personal.

“Anyone can build something big,” Djemcy says. “But it’s the small details that matter most — those are the things people live with every day.”

More Than Builders: Community Advocates

What truly sets Explò Group apart is its community-centered philosophy.

Beyond construction, the founders are committed to using their knowledge to inform, mentor, and empower others. Their work includes:

Mentoring young engineers and students interested in STEM and the construction industry

Educating homeowners about the safety, legal, and financial importance of building the right way

Promoting generational wealth by helping families understand how real estate, when managed properly, can become a long-term asset

Looking ahead, they also hope to expand their impact through podcasts, YouTube content, and outreach initiatives designed to make construction, property ownership, and development knowledge more accessible to the broader community.

“We’re not just building projects — we’re building people and communities,” Djemcy emphasizes.

Rooted in Faith, Family, and Culture

At the core of Explò Group’s mission is a deeply personal foundation built on faith, family, and Haitian heritage.

Both Olson and Djemcy credit their parents’ sacrifices and values as a major source of inspiration in both life and business.

“My parents did a great job instilling those values in me,” Olson reflects. “They helped me find my path and inspired me to pursue a different lifestyle. Their sacrifices gave me purpose. Everything I do is tied back to God, family, and the hope of contributing to Haiti’s future.”

They are also encouraged by a growing trend among second-generation Haitians in the United States — many of whom have never lived in Haiti, yet still feel a strong desire to invest in and contribute to the country’s reconstruction and long-term development.

That connection, they believe, is powerful.

Looking Ahead

Over the next decade, Explò Group envisions expanding its footprint across the United States, Latin America, and Haiti, while continuing to contribute to solutions that go beyond individual construction projects.

Their long-term vision includes helping shape progress in areas such as:

Urban planning

Zoning reform

Accurate land records

Sustainable infrastructure financing

Workforce development and technical training

Ultimately, they hope to play a role in modernizing infrastructure while also helping to train and inspire a new generation of Haitian builders, engineers, and entrepreneurs.

Advice for the Next Generation

For young professionals and aspiring builders, Olson and Djemcy offer simple but powerful advice:

View real estate as generational wealth — something to build, preserve, and pass down

Be patient and disciplined — success in engineering and construction takes both education and experience

Seek mentors and embrace challenges — the hardest projects often lead to the greatest growth

Building Beyond Buildings

For Olson and Djemcy, Explò Group is more than a business. It is a legacy rooted in integrity, resilience, service, and vision.

Their work is guided by the belief that construction is not only about concrete and steel, but about building safe spaces, stronger communities, and a more sustainable future.

As Olson puts it:

“We’re building not just for ourselves, but for the next generation.”
